On the morning of July 31, a diesel train named "Xingang No. 1" carrying finished steel products drew into the Changsha New Port which is operated by Changsha Communications Group. On the same day, Changsha's first dedicated railway line for port transportation was officially opened and put into operation, which seamlessly connects with the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and marks the beginning of a new era for "water-rail-road" intermodal transport at Changsha New Port. The railway line starts from the existing grain-dedicated railway line at Changsha North Station, extends westwards and passes Furong North Road, runs along Xiangjiang North Road, and ultimately reaches Changsha New Port. Spanning a total length of 4.48 kilometers, with a track length of 7.7 kilometers, the project had a total investment of 545 million yuan. Following its trial operation on June 26, the railway line is mainly used for transporting bulk cargos such as steel, containers, general cargo, and commercial vehicles. (Photo/Tong Di, Hunan Daily)
