Daylilies have entered the harvest season in Qidong County of Hengyang City, "China's Hometown of the Daylily". According to the statistics of the Hengyang Customs, all the daylilies exported from Hengyang City are sourced from Qidong County. In the first six months of this year, Hengyang exported 323 tons of daylilies worth 22.32 million CNY, a year-on-year increase of 90% and 133.5% respectively.
Qidong County has been designated as a national quality and safety demonstration area for daylily exports. The daylilies go through a series of processing stages, including sorting, shaqing (enzyme inactivation), airing, drying, and packaging. They are made into finished daylily products, including dried, salted, and assorted forms, and then exported overseas. In the past two years, Qidong daylilies have been sold to Southeast Asian countries, Japan, Australia, and other countries and regions through ports and harbors along the "Belt and Road" routes. At present, Qidong produces an annual output of 400,000 tons of fresh daylilies, with a total output value of more than 3 billion CNY.
The Hengyang Customs has taken various measures to ensure the smooth export of daylilies during the peak season. It has guaranteed the smooth operation of green channels for the inspection of fresh and live perishable commodities; accepted daylily export declarations around the clock; and, reviewed and issued the phytosanitary certificates online, to help batches of daylilies reach overseas market in a "fresh" and timely manner.
