The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in Africa (Kenya) 2024 and the Kenya International Investment Conference kicked off at the Edge Convention Center in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi on the morning of May 9. Hunan Vice Governor Cao Zhiqiang attended.
Vice Governor Cao noted that Hunan has attached great importance to economic and trade cooperation with Africa, focusing on two national platforms--CAETE and the Pioneering Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation. The province strives to build an innovation area of economic and trade cooperation mode with Africa, a leading area of in-depth economic and trade cooperation with Africa, an undertaking area of industrial chain cooperation with Africa, and a "lounge" for economic and trade exchanges and cooperation with Africa. Hunan will implement the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), strengthen synergy with relevant initiatives of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), deepen economic, trade, and humanistic exchanges with Africa, and contribute more to jointly building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
The official CAETE mascots, "Huabao" and "Feibao", made their debut. Ten cooperation projects worth 295 million USD were signed on-site, including the Kenya-China Economic and Trade Incubator Park Project Phase II, Kenya Agricultural Products Import Public Overseas Warehouse Project, and Tanzania Sunflower Oil Processing Plant Project.
The 5,600-sqm exhibition area consists of three special exhibition areas respectively showcasing Hunan, Kenya, and Tatu City, and nine comprehensive exhibition areas. A total of 230 domestic and overseas enterprises participate in the exhibition, exhibiting such products as machinery and equipment, construction materials, and biomedicine.
