The China-Europe (Changsha) freight trains remained in operation during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday. There were China-Europe freight trains whistling and pulling out of the Changsha North Railway Station every day during the holiday, carrying Hunan's products to Eurasia.
The Logistics and Port Office of the Changsha Municipal People's Government announced on February 17 that the China-Europe (Changsha) freight train service got off to a good start during this year's Spring Festival holiday. From February 10 to 17, the number of China-Europe freight trains departing and arriving via Changsha reached 52, an increase of 42% over the Spring Festival holiday last year. The trains transported 43,200 tons of goods worth 80.87 million US dollars, contributing to the "Belt and Road" construction.
In 2023, Changsha saw the total number of China-Europe freight trains surge by 8.92% year on year to hit 1,111, ranking fourth in the country. The freight trains transported 93,348 containers of goods worth 2.231 billion US dollars. Changsha's market influence in the country has been continuously improved.
The China-Europe (Changsha) freight train service has given full play to its advantages in international freight train capacity and channel and provided diversified transportation services for exports of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. A mode of "warehousing and declaration first and then packing" was applied, reducing the loading and unloading costs of enterprises while improving the efficiency of loading and unloading of goods.
Since 2024, the freight train service has maintained a stable momentum of operation. From January 1 to February 17, Changsha handled 234 China-Europe freight trains, carrying goods with a total value of 447 million US dollars.
To date, Changsha has launched 12 routes for the China-Europe freight train service, linking 100 cities of nearly 30 countries in Asia and Europe. Its cargo collection and distribution network has covered two-thirds of regions in China.
