On November 30, the 2023 Hunan Biomedicine and Health Industry Expo, the Xiangjiang Health Industry Development Conference, and also the Hunan Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation Development Summit Forum opened at the Meixi Lake International Culture and Arts Center, Changsha. Chen Wenhao, CPC Leadership Group member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, delivered a speech and announced the opening of the events. Changsha municipal leaders He Zhaohui, Peng Huasong, and Huang Liang attended.

At the opening ceremony, Hunan Xiangjiang New Area and Hunan University of Chinese Medicine signed a strategic cooperation agreement, and together presented a plaque to the Science and Technology Park of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. Fourteen industrial projects across Changsha were signed on the spot, including 10 projects signed by Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, with a total value of 3.2 billion yuan. The projects involve such fields as biomedical research and development, medical devices research and development and production, vaccine development, and online healthcare, aimed at effectively serving the development of Changsha's health and medical industry.

The expo was co-hosted by the Changsha Municipal People's Government, the Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, the Chinese Society of Biotechnology, and the Hunan Publishing Investment Holding Group.

One main forum and four sub-forums were set up on site. Participants focused on forward-looking interpretation of policies in the biomedical industry, and explored traditional Chinese medicine research and development and innovation, intelligent manufacturing, enterprise management, and other fields. The aim was to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, boost the clustered development of the whole industrial chain, and advance the high-quality development of the industry.
