On November 28, the Zhongjun Research Institute, a think tank and social organization specializing in county economic research and consulting, released the 23rd Monitoring and Evaluation Report on County Economy and County Development. Seven places from Hunan Province were included in the list of China's top 100 counties and county-level cities in terms of comprehensive economic and social development: Changsha County (4th), Liuyang County-level City (5th), Ningxiang County-level City (15th), Liling County-level City (34th), Xiangxiang County-level City (63rd), Xiangtan County (65th), and Shaodong City (87th).
A list of China's top 100 counties and county-level cities in terms of basic economic competitiveness was also released. Four places from Hunan Province were shortlisted: Changsha County (5th), Liuyang County-level City (10th), Ningxiang County-level City (16th), and Liling County-level City (55th). A list of 29 Chinese counties and county-level cities with A+ level of high-quality development and modernization was announced. Three places from Hunan Province made the list, namely, Changsha County, and Liuyang and Ningxiang county-level cities.
Changsha County is known as the No. 1 county in central and western China. In recent years, the county has achieved leapfrog development. It has been at the forefront nationwide in terms of economic development and comprehensive strength and has overtaken its counterparts in this regard. Liuyang County-level City is dubbed as the hometown of fireworks and it is a fertile ground for the development of emerging industries. In 2022, Liuyang's regional GDP exceeded 172 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The per capita disposable income increased 5.9%. The ratio of urban and rural incomes was 1.37, higher than the national average. Ningxiang County-level City is committed to building itself into a city strong in the industry sector. An advanced manufacturing industrial cluster has been established, which integrates construction machinery, energy storage materials, and intelligent household electrical appliances.
