On December 21, the 24th batch of the China (Hunan) Medical Team to Sierra Leone provided two-day free clinic at the residential community where the Pepel Port project operated by the Leone Rock Metal Group is located. The medical staff offered health consultation, malaria detection, and disease diagnosis to the employees of the China-invested companies and local villagers.
More than 150 local residents received treatment, covering various medical areas including neurological care, infectious diseases, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, malaria detection, and parasite prevention.
The local governments and communities provided strong support to this free clinic, and the leaders of the local public health department and the community attended.
The free clinic is a practice of the China medical team to Sierra Leone to fulfill its humanitarian mission, enhancing China-Sierra Leone friendly cooperation, and serving the local people, said Chen Yongjun, the Chinese medical team leader. The team will continue to collaborate with the Leone Rock Metal Group, jointly contributing to the improvement of the health conditions and living quality of the local people, he added.
The Leone Rock Metal Group, as a Chinese enterprise investing in Sierra Leone, has been committed to boosting the Pepel Port construction while fulfilling its social responsibilities and caring for the well-being of the local people, said Wu Yuanbin, chief operation officer of the group. He expected more opportunities to collaborate with the China Medial Team, making a contribution to the enhancement of the friendship and mutual trust between the people of China and Sierra Leone.
