The China (Changsha) - Nigeria Investment Economic and Trade Promotion Conference was held in Abuja, Nigeria on April 20, local time. Nigeria is one of the guest countries of the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. Entrusted by the Hunan Provincial People's Government, Kang Zhenlin, vice mayor of the Changsha Municipal People's Government and chairman of the Changsha Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, made a presentation on Hunan Province. Representatives from the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Yuhua District People's Government introduced Changsha City and the construction of the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation (core zone) respectively.

The promotion conference was sponsored by the Changsha Municipal People's Government and organized by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce. More than 80 representatives from various Nigerian government departments, business associations, and enterprises, along with Hunan-based enterprises attended.

"Changsha is a remarkable city with a long history. The permanent settlement of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha, Hunan Province is sure to attract global attention," said Suleman Audu, director of the Trade Department of the Nigerian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, adding that Nigeria and China should capitalize on the opportunities brought about by the post-pandemic era to strengthen cooperation in such areas as trade, investment and industry.

The conference venue was filled with a lively atmosphere, with impressive results achieved. Representatives from enterprises including Hunan Red Star Industrial Group, Zeenab Foods Limited of Nigeria, Hunan Friendship International Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., Hunan Gaoqiao Grand Market introduced their respective business situations and plans for future development.

Changsha-based intelligent equipment manufacturer Sunward signed a mechanical equipment sales agreement worth 120 million yuan with a Nigerian enterprise.

Hunan enterprises such as Hunan Neptune Pump Co., Ltd., Hunan Fengri Power Supply Electric Co., Ltd., Hunan Gaoqiao Grand Market, Hunan Overseas Home Information Co., Ltd., Hunan Friendship International Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. have respectively signed cooperation agreements with Nigerian enterprises.

Hunan Province and Nigeria have good potential for cooperation in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. Hunan Province will actively pursure the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen economic and trade cooperation with Nigeria, and help enterprises go global and explore the international market. In the future, the two sides will have more cooperation opportunities in agriculture, engineering, e-commerce, industrial parks and other fields.
