The Hurun Research Institute released its Global Unicorn Index 2023 on April 18. This is the fifth Global Unicorn Index released. The Global Unicorn Index is a ranking of global start-ups founded in the 2000s, worth at least 1 billion US dollars and not yet listed on a public exchange.

According to the Global Unicorn Index 2023, there are 1,361 unicorn companies worldwide. ByteDance remains the world's most valuable unicorn with a value of 1.38 trillion yuan. Four companies from Changsha were listed as unicorn companies, involving such fields as new retail, transportation, food and beverage, and artificial intelligence.

Changsha's four unicorn companies are:

--Xingsheng Youxuan, ranking 105th, valued at 48 billion yuan;

--Sany Heavy Truck, ranking 504th, valued at 14 billion yuan;

--Wenheyou, ranking 705th, valued at 10.5 billion yuan; and,

--CiDi (short for Changsha Intelligent Driving Institute Ltd.), ranking 920th, valued at 8 billion yuan.
