Even under the epidemic, Hunan construction companies continue to write brilliantly. Hunan Construction Group has helped to land the projects of photovoltaic power station in Egypt and gas-fired combined cycle independent power generation in Syr Darya River, Uzbekistan as soon as possible, and its overseas markets have spread to more than 30 countries.

Hunan biological medicine companies are rising strongly too. As the first listed company of blood glucose meter in China, Sinocare acquired Trividia, the sixth largest blood glucose testing system supplier in the world, and with its extensive global sales network, Sinocare has entered more than 80 countries and regions quickly and effectively.

Since the "Belt and Road" initiative was proposed in 2013, Hunan has added 988 foreign enterprises with an actual investment of 11.4 billion U.S. dollars, ranking the top ten in the country and the first in central China in terms of total investment. In the first quarter of 2022, Hunan's actual foreign investment amounted to 650 million U.S. dollars, ranking seventh in the country and first in central and western China. At present, there are 277 surviving enterprises of Hunan in the countries along the "Belt and Road", involving an investment of 3.2 billion US dollars.

Import and export volume has been rising in successive years

Hunan formed eight competitive industries to "go abroad"

Just past the "May Day" holiday, Changsha Freight North Station is more busy than usual. As of May 4, Changsha has started 180 China-Europe trains this year, carrying more than 17,628 TEU of goods, an increase of 21% over the same period.

At a time when the global epidemic is severe and the international situation is complicated, the volume of China-Europe trains has increased instead of decreased, transporting Changsha's construction machinery sets, Xiangtan's special steel, Zhuzhou's domestic ceramic, Shaoyang's agricultural machinery, etc. to Latvia, Belarus and other countries along the "Belt and Road".

Based on the "Belt and Road" location advantage, Hunan keeps the trade channels smooth, increasing the import and export of countries along the "Belt and Road" for years. From 2013 to 2021, Hunan's import and export with countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" increased more than five times, from 34.42 billion yuan to 179.23 billion yuan. In the first quarter of 2022, Hunan's import and export to countries along the "Belt and Road" was 37.39 billion yuan, up 24.3% year-on-year.

The open platform is improving constantly. Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone was approved, China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and China-Africa Economic and Trade Deep Cooperation Pilot Zone were established in Hunan, 18 national parks, 7 special customs supervision zones and 4 comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce were built, and the experimental plot and resource base for "Belt and Road" are more complete.

Industrial foundation is gradually formed. For years of high-quality development of the "Belt and Road" cooperation, Hunan's "go abroad" advantageous industries are obvious, such as engineering machinery, rail transportation, agriculture, energy and electricity, mineral resources development, infrastructure construction, biological medicine, light industrial manufacturing, eight advantageous industries not only meet the needs of countries along the "Belt and Road", but also are the focus of Hunan in building a national important advanced manufacturing highland.

Keeping strive in Africa and targeting ASEAN

Achieve big benefit with a small point of penetration

Recently, the first double shield TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) developed by China Railway Construction Heavy Industry in Serbia was successfully launched, and this is the first time that China's self-developed tunneling machine was applied to the overseas mining industry.

This 310-meter-long, 1,600-ton "big guy" will be used for the comprehensive environmental management project of the Pol River in Zijin Copper in Serbia. Under the epidemic, from equipment shipment, transfer to the site assembly and commissioning, all staff of China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Serbia project worked overtime continuously to ensure the successful completion of each step, and received highly praised from the owner.

"Hunan is known as 'coastal inland', although it does not have the location advantage along the coast, but based on its own characteristics, mining industrial advantages, in the 'Belt and Road' along the countries have formed a good reputation and brand effect." Party secretary of Department of Commerce, director Shen Yumou introduced, focus on Africa, ASEAN and other key regions and countries, Hunan around agriculture, construction machinery, rail transportation, new energy and other advantageous industries, bases on the implementation of key projects, uses a small point of penetration to achieve big benefits as a breakthrough, to promote the "Belt and Road" construction to go deep and practical.

Keeping strive in Africa. China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo was successfully held for two sessions, and China-Africa Economic and Trade Deep Cooperation Pilot Zone was constructed, Hunan has built the "Hunan brand" of local cooperation with Africa. At present, there are 134 Hunan enterprises investing in Africa, they the north-south highway in Algeria, wrestling arena in Senegal, Karuma hydropower station in Uganda... Hunan products, technology and engineering are well known in Africa, and bring happiness to African people.

Targeting at ASEAN. Seizing the historical opportunities such as the opening of China-Laos Railway and the entry into force of RCEP agreement, Hunan creates new channels, new platforms and new industries towards ASEAN, and drives the deep industrial cooperation between key cities and states along the route and ASEAN countries. In the first quarter, Hunan's import and export to ASEAN was 21.7 billion yuan, up 30.2% year-on-year.

"Foreign aid projects plus industry chain cooperation" has become a characteristic of Hunan. The scale and quality of foreign aid training courses undertaken by Hunan ranked first among local provinces and cities in China. Hunan took the lead in commercializing hybrid rice in African countries, forming a whole industrial chain cooperation in breeding, planting, processing and marketing of agricultural products to Africa.

In order to give full play to the daring and courageous qualities of Hunan enterprises, the "Go Abroad" Hunan Enterprise Alliance was established to create a project-based grouping mechanism and enhance the professional service capacity for "go abroad" enterprises.

On May 1, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into force between China and Myanmar. Hunan enterprises are taking the initiative to dovetail with RCEP and lay out overseas markets to seize the first opportunity to reconstruct the international industrial chain. Hunan is focusing on integrating into the "Belt and Road" to build a new pattern of opening up to the outside world.
