The CCID Consulting Co., Ltd. recently announced a list of the top 100 advanced manufacturing industrial development zones for 2023.
The CCID Consulting is wholly owned by the China Center for Information Industry Development, a public institution under China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Hunan's five development zones made the list: the Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone, ranking 17th; the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, ranking 30th; the Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, ranking 65th; the Zhuzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, ranking 81st; and, the Hengyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, ranking 97th.
The top 100 advanced manufacturing industrial zones were selected out of 230 national-level economic development zones and 168 national-level high-tech industrial development zones nationwide, based on the benchmarks of the National Bureau of Statistics. The candidate zones were examined from five perspectives – economic strength, innovation potential, integration capacity, industrial aggregation, and green power, to assess their comprehensive performance in advanced manufacturing in a scientific and all-round manner.
The Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone is one of the first batch of 27 national-level high-tech industrial development zones. It is constructing an industrial layout with new-generation information technology as its top priority, construction machinery as its superiority, and biological medicine, advanced energy storage and new energy vehicles, and BeiDou (aerospace) as its features. It has three 100-billion-CNY industrial clusters – construction machinery, new materials, and electronic technology. It has taken the national lead for ten consecutive years in terms of the scale of intelligent manufacturing equipment and construction machinery industries. In 2022, the revenue of technology, processing and trade sectors in the zone hit 400 billion CNY; the proportion of the value added of manufacturing industry in GDP reached 36.5%; and, the output value of advanced energy storage materials and new energy vehicles, biological medicine, and electronic information industrial clusters rose 95.6%, 24.9%, and 15.2% respectively.
