The Wenye (Hainan) African Nuts Processing Project construction is in full swing in the Hunan-Hainan Co-constructed Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Park, Hainan Province. The project covers an area of 20 mu (1.33 ha.), jointly built and manged by Hunan and Hainan provinces. Upon completion, it will become a Hainan-based China-Africa economic and trade cooperation nuts processing international demonstration park which integrates production, research and development, and foreign trade, and a China-Africa nut trading center. It is expected to process and sell 10,000 tonnes of nuts yearly.

Nuts are important non-resource products in Africa. The Yuhua District of Changsha City has actively built a nut industrial chain of direct procurement, warehousing and logistics, deep processing, packaging design, exhibition, and after sales service. In 2023, the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Changsha Area Yuhua Block introduced the professional nut trader Wenye, and set up the Wenye (Hunan) International Trading Company Limited in the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Demonstration Park. The "Daily Nuts" brand of Wenye also won the gold medal at the 24th Central China (Hunan) Agricultural Expo, boasting promising market prospects.

In order to help enterprises increase production and efficiency, the Hunan FTZ has led enterprises to seize opportunities to tap into overseas market, seeking "enclave development". The Wenye (Hainan) African Nuts Processing Project has taken advantage of the processing value-added 30% tariff-free policy of the Hainan Free Trade Port for the first time. It has imported Kenyan macadamia nuts, Tanzanian cashew nuts, and South African pecans, and sold them to the domestic market after deep processing. Their products are also exported to Southeast Asia, the United Arab Emirates, Europe and other places.

The project leader believed that setting up a processing plant in Hainan enjoys regional and logistics advantages. Compared to Hunan Province, Hainan Province boasts more convenience for export to Southeast Asia and West Asia and for foreign merchants to negotiate orders. The company will further expand the African nuts industrial chain and promote African non-resource products to agglomerate in Hunan, so that more "African products" can be turned into hot-selling "Hunan products".
