Hunan's import and export value totaled 81.06 billion CNY in the first two months of 2024, increasing by 11.8 percent and 5.1 percentage points higher than the national average, according to the Changsha Customs authority. Exports reached 44.08 billion CNY while imports amounted to 36.98 billion CNY.

In the first two months, Hunan has traded with 152 countries and regions. ASEAN, EU, and the United States remained the three largest trade partners, with the import and export value reaching 13.37 billion CNY, 7.11 billion CNY, and 6.49 billion CNY. Meanwhile, the trade value with the countries involved in the national Belt and Road Initiative, the RCEP member countries, the BRICS countries, and African countries, were respectively 41.75 billion CNY, 23.32 billion CNY, 15.28 billion CNY, and 7.47 billion CNY.

Hunan has held the lead in export of its preponderant products, such as construction machinery, rail transit equipment, fireworks and crackers, lighters, and precious metal jewelry, with the export value of 3.96 billion CNY, 160 million CNY, 570 million CNY, 250 million CNY, and 1.67 billion CNY respectively. Among them, the export of fireworks and crackers, and that of lighters, ranked first nationwide.

The exports of the "three new" products-electric passenger vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar batteries, amounted to 830 million CNY, taking up 1.9 percent of the provincial total.

The import of agricultural products, high-tech products, and other key imported commodities has remained steady growth.

The number of enterprises with actual import and export performance has reached 4,597 by the first two months. Among them, 1,596 enterprises started up foreign trade, contributing 17.4 billion CNY of import and export value. Meanwhile, 837 enterprises have doubled their foreign trade value, totaling 18.09 billion CNY. The total volume of the newly-added and the doubled foreign trade amounted to 35.49 billion CNY, accounting for 43.8 percent of the provincial total.

The number of manufacturing-oriented enterprises with actual import and export performance has reached 1,777 by the first two months, making a total import and export value of 33.02 billion CNY. Several leading enterprises have played a prominent leading role. For instance, the import and export value of the Lens Technology, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotives, Zoomlion Intelligent Aerial Work Equipment, and Changsha HKC Optoelectronics, grew 48 percent, 18.1 percent, 163.4 percent, and 103.6 percent respectively. The Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. and the Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. ranked first and second among the manufacturing enterprises around the province.

In the first two months, the import and export value of Hunan's small and medium-sized enterprises that specialize in niche sectors amounted to 2.26 billion CNY, increasing by 13 percent year on year.
