As of December 28, Changsha Huanghua Airport has handled record 27 million passenger trips, and 199,000 flights. It is estimated that the passenger throughput of the airport will hit 27.2 million this year, topping the airports in central China for three consecutive years.
In 2023, the airport has grasped the opportunities brought about by market resumption, and rolled out measures to ensure sound and stable operation. It launched four express lines respectively linked to Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, and Hainan. It tailored considerate services for the passengers with special needs as well as child and elderly passengers; provided free bus parking and off-site check-in services for group passengers; and, set up check-in area at Wuyi Square Metro Station where boarding pass, baggage delivery, and other convenient services are available.
This year, the airport has resumed two international air lines, respectively linking to Nairobi of Kenya and London of the UK, and operated a number of flights to the RCEP members, including Singapore, Seoul of South Korea, Bangkok of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Nha Trang of Vietnam, and Phnom Penh of Cambodia. It has become a crucial hub connected with the Belt and Road countries, and a node on the "golden passage on the air" to facilitate the economic and trade contacts with Southeast Asia. All these have provided strong support to the airport to maintain its leading position in passenger transport in central China.
The increasing travel demands and booming tourism market led to a stable growth of passenger throughput. On April 29, the throughput of the airport reached 99,900, a record of daily throughput on the airport's history since its opening. In August, the airport has handled 2.7967 million passenger trips, making a record of monthly passenger throughput. In the upcoming New Year holiday between December 30 and January 1, the airport is estimated to handle 210,000 passenger trips and 1,600 flights.
