On January 8, Zhangjiajie held an exchange and cooperation conference for Thai travel agents and media outlets, presenting them with the city's tourism resources and folk customs.

Zhangjiajie has been a popular tourist destination among Thai people for years. In 2004, Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Zhangjiajie and described it as a "fantasy world". In 2011, Zhangjiajie opened its first chartered tourist flight to Thailand. In 2019, nearly 50,000 Thai holidaymakers visited Zhangjiajie.

In 2023, the Thai Vietjet Air launched a chartered tourist air route from Bangkok to Zhangjiajie under the guidance of the Zhangjiajie Municipal People's Government. A total of 79 flights were operated last year, carrying 15,000 passengers and with an occupancy rate of more than 95%.

At the conference, Luo Qipo, a local travel agent of the chartered air route linking Zhangjiajie and Bangkok, said that the company was expected to make a new breakthrough in Bangkok-Zhangjiajie chartered air services in 2024, bringing the total number of Thai tourists in Zhangjiajie to more than 30,000.

Luo is also a person in charge of the Inbound Tourism Department of the Hunan Jiayou International Travel Agency.

The inspection team also visited the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianmen Mountain, and Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area and was amazed at the breathtaking scenery of Zhangjiajie.
