On August 22, CCID Consulting Co., Ltd. and CCID Research Institute  (Group) of Industry and Information Technology Sichuan Co., Ltd. jointly released the 2023 lists of top 500 town-level economies in China and top 50 town-level economies in western regions of China.

Two towns from Changsha, Hunan made the top 500 list. They are Huanghua Town in Changsha County and Yong'an Town in Liuyang County-level City, ranking 94th and 390th respectively. 

A specific threshold was set for the list, that is, any town qualified for evaluation should have a general public budget revenue of at least 150 million yuan. Beyond that, a town's economic strength, development level, industrial level, and consumption capacity were considered in a comprehensive manner.

Huanghua Town in Changsha County, known as the "No. 1 Town in Hunan", entered the top 100.

On Hunan's economic development map, Huanghua Town is in the spotlight, with the combined advantages of the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone, Huanghua Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area Airport Block, Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area Convention and Exhibition Block. Several 100-billion-yuan projects locate here.

In recent years, the town, positioned as a modern airport-based industrial town, has seen its total fiscal and tax revenue jump by a huge amount of 100 million yuan for 13 consecutive years. It has been rated as a first-class town for six consecutive years. It is among the national top 100 towns in terms of comprehensive competitiveness.

Yong'an, a town in the northwest of Liuyang county-level city, ranked 390th on the top 500 list. It is the location of the Liuyang Economic and Technological Development Zone and the core area of Jinyang New Town, with a strong comprehensive strength. Previously, it ranked 82nd and 3rd respectively among the top 100 towns in China and in China's central regions in terms of comprehensive competitiveness in 2021.

Yong'an Town is one of the largest furniture producers, exhibitors and sellers in central and southern regions of China. In recent years, in addition to the traditional furniture industry, the town's intelligent equipment manufacturing, electronic information, construction engineering and other industries have also flourished.
